trans-lu-cent (adj.) transmitting light but causing sufficient diffusion to eliminate perception of distinct images.

the word was from a simple poem i wrote years ago about the state of "almost sleep" i'd been living in. with the help of my good friend robert parlaman that poem became a song. the first song by the band that would become "translucent"

"those pale little memories i almost forgot, curse the strict line of time. but a short and translucent iridescent and moonlit thought i'll remember sometime"

as time passed and through several collaborations with wonderful musicians the word translucent became symbolic of consistency and hope, a metaphor for the soul. a love of beauty and an appreciation of this mortal condition is the drive behind the music. sometimes quite driven, sometimes more melodic and reaching for a common place of identity. the band is a sum of its parts and the sound a realization in itself.

our current lineup is:

michael donnelly    words
todd hepler           guitar
dave sims             bass
pierre kimball         drums

happy to be here...through looking back.
